Another type of Asian paper lanterns are the sky lanterns, or the airborne paper lanterns, which are often released into the night sky for aesthetic effect at lantern festivals. There are different types of lantern like Traditional Chinese Lanterns, Japanese Capsule Lanterns, Diwali Star Lanterns of India, Star Paper Lanterns of the Vietnamese children and Christmas Star Lanterns.
